After transitioning from the street to studio, Todd James has become best known for his vibrant color blocked compositions that take inspiration from cartoons and mid-century abstraction. Often informed by the onslaught of images in our media landscape, Sail Away exemplifies the artist's capacity for tackling serious world issues in tandem with his colorful and playful visual language. James has exhibited widely including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Brooklyn Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and the Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. James has also worked on television shows including Crank Yankers and films including Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. He has created album art and graphics for musicians including the Beastie Boys, Red Man, Eminem, and Iggy Pop.
